Commonwealth Games: will ruin common men's wealth

Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit has blamed the Commonwealth Games for the higher tax proposed in the recent state budget. It means she was aware that the government has not enough fund to host such a big and prestigious (?) event. Even being a capital state of India, Delhi is lagging behind at many fronts in providing basic amenities to its citizen; pure drinking water, electricity supply and safety of women are few of them. When the city bid for the games it was publicized in a manner that it will help the city to provide basic infrastructure facilities to Delhiites. Various agencies including the union government provided needed fund. This is ultimately the money of taxpayers. Now the additional burden of taxes suggests that the state government is failed to manage the fund properly. Apart from that the work is also going at very slow pace. The games will kick start from October 3, 2010 and still so much have to be done. Even Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) chief Mike Fennell has expressed his concerns over the progress of work. As projects lagged, inflationary pressures kicked in and costs soared. Surely, citizens aren't to be blamed for the delays. Nor must they be penalized with more taxes.

Manmohan Nahi Manega

PM Manmohan Singh is not keen to roll back the petrolium price rise. Instead he is trying to explain the aam aadmi to be more generous to spend more so our nation can become a good investment hub, our economy can grow at rapid rate etc.. According to him... "Any increase in prices does hurt some people. We have to take a long-term view. We cannot save people from inflation if we follow populist fiscal policies all along. Sooner or later, these populist policies, if persisted with for a long time, will lead to erosion of the investment climate, our capacity to create new jobs, and of our ability to invest in our flagship programmes for the poor people. So, we have to balance these factors," Manmohan Singh

Mr. Prime minister if this is your view on price rise; it is so shocking to know that you have no sympathy for the common men. About your take on taking long-term view, I must say that since last 60 years every politician and so called economists are making fool the aam junta by using such words. Why don’t you people make a significant cut in your salary and other costs??

If you are a good economist than why dont u use your skill to control the inflation? instead controlling the inflation u are saying that the effect will be negligible. Mr singh u as a prime minister can use the word negligible, u don't and will never understand the impact of sky rocketing prices of essential commodities on common man's life.
